Tom Merritt is a native of the Powdersville Community in Upstate South Carolina where he currently resides with his wife, Allyison. Tom and Allyison have been married for over 20 years and have a son and three daughters. In 1990, Tom completed a Bachelor’s Degree from Clemson University in Secondary Education – English, then went on to earn a Master of Education Degree in Counseling from Clemson in 1992. Tom began his professional career as an English teacher and football coach with Greer High School, and then became a Guidance Counselor at Easley High School while coaching football and basketball.
In 1994, college friends Tom Merritt and Mike Pereyo co-founded OOBE Incorporated, an apparel design and manufacturing firm headquartered in Greenville, South Carolina. The OOBE brand has been sold in stores across the United States, Japan, and Canada. OOBE has also designed product lines, uniform and marketing programs for such international brands as FILA, Slazenger Golf, Nick Price Collections, Merrell Footwear, Wolverine Worldwide, The PGA Tour, Disney, Chick-Fil-A and many others. In addition to the US-Greenville location, the company also operates offices in Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Korea.
