The Blood Connection is a not-for-profit community blood center in upstate South Carolina and is governed by a voluntary and diverse board of trustees. Founded in 1962, The Blood Connection was the area’s first coordinated effort to ‘connect’ blood donations to patients in need. It continues today as a state-of-the-art biologics manufacturer; collecting, processing, and distributing blood and blood components for local and regional hospitals.
The Blood Connection supplies 100% of the blood supply to all hospitals in Greenville, Greenwood, Pickens, Oconee, Laurens, Newberry Counties, and Stephens County in Georgia. Additionally, The Blood Connection distributes its products throughout the United States to centers and hospitals experiencing blood deficit.
The Blood Connection’s mission is to ensure an adequate, safe and cost-effective blood supply for its healthcare partners and has been successful in doing so due to the commitment of its volunteer donors. Citizens are offered the opportunity to contribute through a variety of blood donation programs such as whole blood donation and apheresis.
