Event Description: America and the World: The U.S. Relationship with Latin America January 17, 2018 [Greenville, SC]--- As Robert Frost so famously wrote: Good fences make good neighbors. While that may be true in the suburbs, is it true between and among nations? Is it true with respect to our neighbor Mexico? The U.S. is divided in it's approach to immigration from Latin America. World Affairs Council Upstate, in partnership with Furman University, will try to address these issues in the 5th of its 8 part lecture series on Wednesday, January 17th at 8:30 a.m. The lecture, The U.S. Relationship with Latin America, will begin promptly at 8:30 in the morning at the Ogletree Deakins Meeting Room, 300 North Main Street, Greenville, SC 29601. Coffee and scones will be provided and there will be plenty of time for questions and networking following the lecture. Our lecturer this month, Dr. Cleveland Fraser, has taught at Furman for over 30 years focusing on helping students understand more fully the interesting political, economic, and cultural characteristics of the two closest neighbors to the United States: Canada and Mexico, and how each of these three neighbors interact with each other and with the broader international environment.
